Xi’an is a city located in the Shaanxi Province of China. It was once the capital of several dynasties and, thus, has a rich cultural heritage.   1. Terracotta Army Museum

This fantastic museum houses one of the most famous archaeological detection ever made – more than 8,000 life-sized terracotta warriors created over 2,000 years ago during the Qin Dynasty. The warriors were detected in 1974 by local farmers plowing a well, and since then, they have been carefully restored and placed on display for visitors to marvel at their craftsmanship. 

2. Bell Tower

Built-in 1384 and standing at over 36 meters (118 feet) tall, this is one of the oldest buildings in all of China. The tower symbolizes spiritual power and political authority during its time and is an impressive sight, especially when lit at night! Visitors can climb to the top for stunning views over Xi’an.  

3. Muslim Quarter

Located near the Drum Tower, this bustling part of town is home to some delicious street food stalls selling everything from spicy noodles to dumplings and various souvenir shops offering traditional Chinese handicrafts such as paper lanterns and fans perfect for taking home as gifts or keepsakes. 

4. Shaanxi History Museum

Home to some incredible artifacts dating back thousands of years, this museum is considered one of the best in China. Its vast collection covers everything from bronze ware to ancient pottery and even some mummies! There’s no better place to learn about Chinese history than here! 

5. City Wall

Built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), these walls are just as majestic today as they were hundreds of years ago! Stretching over 14 kilometers (8 miles) long with four gates leading into different parts of town, it’s easy for visitors to explore either by foot or bicycle along the top or admire from below!  

6. Big Wild Goose Pagoda

This iconic pagoda dates back over 1,300 years, when Emperor Gaozong built it during his reign (618-907). Standing at 64 meters (210 feet) tall, this seven-story building offers stunning views across Xi’an from its rooftop terrace – perfect for those looking for great photo opportunities!  

7. Qianling Mausoleum

Located just northwest of downtown Xi’an lies this grand imperial mausoleum where two Tang Dynasty emperors are buried alongside their consorts and court officials who served them faithfully during their lives. Dating back 1,300 years ago, this site is filled with fascinating tomb sculptures that you won’t miss seeing while you’re here!
